For ages, I resisted replacing it because I worried a new door would look too modern and out of keeping with the character of this little Carrstone cottage. A talented local carpenter replaced the sill and refreshed it with a new lick of paint. This certainly improved the door’s appearance but it still didn’t fit as well as it could and struggled to keep the heat in.

My biggest request was that the new door at Clover Cottage should be an exact replica of the original cottage door preserving all the charm and traditional cottage character, while incorporating modern craftsmanship and energy efficient technology to keep the weather out and the warmth in.
